Save energy & money
Throughout every home there are appliances that use electricity even when they are turned off or idle. They are known as “energy pinchers.†Here’s how to stop the waste from energy pinchers in your home. |
Switch off or unplug televisions, cable boxes, power strips and other entertainment appliances when not in use. |
Unplug hair dryers, curling irons, and electric shavers |
Unplug electric kettles, toasters, microwave ovens and other appliances when not in use. Your refrigerator is not designed to be turned off regularly. |
• Turn computers off or set on sleep mode when not in use. • Unplug phone chargers, printers, power strips and other electronic devices when not in use. |
• Use LED light bulbs and fixtures that use up to 75% less energy and last up to 10x longer than incandescents. • Use energy-efficient appliances and electronics. |
• Turn off transformers together with equipment when not in use (switch off at outlet or unplug). The heat that transformers produce when they are on, even when you’re not using your equipment, is wasted electricity for which you are paying. |
