Less than four months after the close of the 2023 season of the Grenlec Debates, preparations are underway for the 2024 season.
To help debaters develop their skills, Grenlec hosted a Debates Training Camp from 19-20 March 2024.
The teams and their coaches described the sessions as “interesting”, “interactive” and “helpful”.
Twenty-one secondary schools participated in the two-day activity, which focused on delivering presentations effectively, language, voice and body language, the importance of in-depth research and time management.
In 2023, the Grenlec Debates format was changed to impromptu to promote students’ critical thinking and communication skills as well as boost their self-confidence.
The training was designed to equip students to manage the requirements of these impromptu presentations.
The 2024 edition of the Grenlec Debates will begin in September.
