Customers in Carriacou will soon benefit from a stronger and more reliable electricity supply as Grenlec undertakes a major upgrade to the South Feeder on Sunday, 30 November 2025.

To complete this work safely, an island-wide outage, in Carriacou only, will be required from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The upgrade is being driven by a steady increase in electricity demand on the southern end of the island.

“We have seen significant load growth due to ongoing development in the south. To support this increase and prepare for future demand, we are replacing the current 750 kVA transformer with a 1500 kVA unit,” said Wallace Collins, Grenlec’s Department Manager in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

He noted that the new transformer will substantially increase the capacity of the system, enhance reliability, and allow for greater operational flexibility.

Grenlec apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their understanding as the Company works to strengthen Carriacou’s electricity infrastructure and support future growth.
