Grenlec is pleased to announce that a five-member team from our Transmission and Distribution Department travelled to Jamaica on Sunday, 9 November 2025, to assist the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) with electricity restoration efforts following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

This deployment is part of the regional cooperation framework among Caribbean electric utilities, coordinated through the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC). The Grenlec crew will join other utility teams from across the region to support JPS in restoring power safely and efficiently to affected communities.

Grenlec—and by extension, Grenada—has benefitted from this CARILEC-organised support in the past, most recently in 2024, when utilities from across the region assisted Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique in restoring electricity following Hurricane Beryl.

This spirit of mutual aid continues to strengthen the resilience and solidarity of Caribbean electricity providers.

Grenlec is proud of the team for answering this call to serve. Their expertise, commitment, and teamwork continue to demonstrate Grenlec’s professionalism and our shared responsibility to support our neighbours in times of need.

Please join us in wishing the team a safe and successful mission.
