At Grenlec, your safety is a top priority. Here is some helpful information to keep you and your family safe from electrical hazards while outside.

POLE SAFETY

Please do not post, staple or nail signs or banners to utility poles. They can cause injury to our linemen and keep them from responding quickly to emergencies.

KITE SAFETY

• Fly kites away from power lines.

• Never climb trees near power lines.

• Never retrieve items from power lines.

If your kite gets caught in power lines, release it immediately, and

call Grenlec at 237

TREE TRIMMING

• Avoid planting trees that grow tall under or near power lines.

• It is unsafe to trim a tree near a power line. Consult Grenlec for advice before trimming.

• If you spot a tree growing into a power line, note the pole number, and report it to Grenlec.


POWER LINE SAFETY

• Stay away from electrical transformers.

• Do not touch or go near downed power lines.

• Assume any downed wires are live.

ELECTRICITY AND WATER

• Use GFCI outlets in areas near water, e.g. laundry rooms, swimming pools and garages/workshops.

• Never use water on an electrical fire.
