Wednesday 19th October – Construction has started on a new pavilion at the La Borie Community Playing Field. Grenlec, under its Community Partnership Initiative, is contributing over one hundred and sixty thousand dollars to the project, which is scheduled to be completed in February 2017.

The media and Grenlec team members joined Nigel Noel, Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Works for a visit to the project site on Tuesday, 18 October.  Providing a project update, Mr. Noel said, “The project will feature a pavilion that will seat over 190 persons, a food and bar area as well as washrooms. We are pleased that Grenlec has partnered with the Ministry for this venture which will benefit the residents of this community.”

Shawn McQuilkin, Grenlec Supervisor added, “Grenlec is honoured to be able to assist with the construction of this facility. The Company is supportive of sporting, cultural, youth and community development initiatives that enrich the lives of people.”

The La Borie Playing Field Project was approved by the Grenlec Community Partnership Initiative as one of its major projects in 2015.  The Company agreed to delay implementation to this year to facilitate a redesign of the facility and is happy that construction commenced at the beginning of October 2016.

Grenlec extends thanks to Barry’s Engineering, Project Manager; Mr. Keith Augustine, contractor and other members of the LaBorie community who are working together for the successful completion of the project.
