Monday, 13 November 2017:  The St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) is celebrating the rewards of its success in the Grenlec Debates over the years.
The school has now added a new gym facility that was funded through project awards that SAASS earned in the Grenlec Debates.

Speaking during the blessing of the facility, Dianne Abel-Jeffrey – Principal thanked Grenlec for providing opportunities for the students and school’s development, "We are grateful to Grenlec for making our dream a reality.  The gym will be used to complement the strong physical education programme that exists at the school”.

Every year, Grenlec gifts project awards to the top four schools in the Grenlec Debates. These project awards have been utilised to purchase furniture, outfit audio visual rooms and computer laboratories, language laboratories and other essential services for students.

Casandra Slocombe, Grenlec’s Customer Services Manager says the SAASS Gym is another excellent example of the important ways in which the Grenlec Debates contribute to the development of our students. "Educators continue to advocate the holistic development of our students through a broad range of activities.  Through our GCPI we are pleased to contribute to community development, partnering with community and stakeholder development organisations to assist them with meeting their objectives."
In ten years, SAASS has earned three championships and several placements in the top four of the Grenlec Debating Competition.  The gym is the most recent of its Debates projects.  Among its other initiatives are a refurbished library and a renewable energy and energy efficiency project.
